Welcome

We are a 501(c)3 organization, located in the Northeast section of Wyandotte County in Kansas City, Kansas. We were established in 1996 and strive to provide basic needs and continual support for everyone in the community.

Our Goal

To have programs in place to benefit our youth, senior citizens and everyone in between. We want to make a substantial difference for everyone in our community as best we can. Our programs have included EOF Headstart, Health Screenings, Computer Classes, Summer Enrichment Classes, Huddle Learning Site, Brown Avenue Clinic and after school programs.

Our Mission

To provide early childhood and youth development, educational and social programs that create synergy between school, parents, children, youth and community partners. To positively impact dropout and illiteracy rates among the targeted population. To deliver health screening and educational services to seniors in the Quindaro and surrounding communities.

Our Programs

We offer a variety of programs designed to support and enrich the community.

Adult Computer Classes

These classes have been held twice a year, once in the fall, and again in the spring, two nights per week for a 6 week period since 2000. The audience for these classes has been adults in the community who have not been exposed to computers, software, or the internet.

HEALTH SCREENINGS

Health Fairs held at the Center include screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, sugar, lung and heart. We have been able to conduct health informational sessions at least twice a year.

Additionally, we have conducted “back to school” physicals for students who are involved in sports and have a need for summer camp, etc. The screenings and physicals given have been for the “back to school” population each year except 2007. The events are planned for a general audience including senior citizens.

SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAM

Our summer program begins in June. Approximate enrollment remains at 25 to 30 students each year. Our focus is on math and reading with some computer instruction, outdoor exercise, and life skills. The summer program is conducted for six weeks with a combination of certified teachers, and a remarkable volunteer staff ready to demonstrate craft and kitchen responsibilities. Field trips are an added attraction. Harvesters supply the food for breakfast and lunch.
