Brief History
Rev. Dr. Stacy Ervin Hopkins, late pastor of First Baptist Church of Quindaro, had a vision. That vision was to have an edifice which would support everyone in the community, to assist and protect the elderly as well as the young. A facility that would serve as a favorable establishment to be used within the community, easily accessible with multi functional benefits used by everyone in a positive way. This facility would have programs to help undergird the efforts of elementary schools and other entities. It would provide health services and help educate through projects suited for church involvement. Rev. Hopkins shared his vision with the church body in which he was wholeheartedly supported. A facility of this kind would not only assist persons living in the neighborhood, but would also be a community enhancement. Property was obtained at 2726 Brown Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas in February 1997. The First Baptist Church of Quindaro family witnessed the construction of the Quindaro Community Center and the center was completed and its doors opened in November 1997. An Open House celebration was held May 9, 1998.
