HEALTH SCREENINGS - Health Fairs held at the Center include screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, sugar, lung and heart. We have been able to conduct health informational sessions at least twice a year. - Present
Additionally, we have conducted "back to school" physicals for students who are involved in sports and have a need for summer camp, etc. The screenings and physicals given have been for the "back to school" population each year except 2007. The events are planned for a general audience including senior citizens.
ADULT COMPUTER CLASSES - These classes have been held twice a year, once in the fall, and again in the spring, two nights per week for a 6 week period since 2000. The audience for these classes has been adults in the community who have not been exposed to computers, software, or the internet. - Present
SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAM - Our summer program begins in June. Approximate enrollment remains at 25 to 30 students each year. Our focus is on math and reading with some computer instruction, outdoor exercise, and life skills. The summer program is conducted for six weeks with a combination of certified teachers, and a remarkable volunteer staff ready to demonstrate craft and kitchen responsibilities. Field trips are an added attraction. Harvesters supply the food for breakfast and lunch. - Present
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM - The After School Program is designed to enhance school curriculum in reading and math. We welcome students who accept the opportunity to hone their skills in these subjects. Our classroom teachers provide puzzles, and other forms of learning tools to help students excel. Snacks are provided. Assistance is given to complete homework assignments. Our current enrollment consists of Quindaro Elementary School students. Students are walked or transported to the Community Center and are picked up after the session by their parents. - Present
